The last available data is 2020. In this analysis the included CEFTA markets are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia (Moldova is not included in the database, and Albania has no data for recent years). How citizens of CEFTA countries use the internet and what activities they perform while online is presented using Eurostat database: Individuals - internet activities [isoc_ci_ac_i]. What is characteristic for available data is that all 5 countries mostly use the internet for telephoning and participation in social networks. Citizens of CEFTA countries (available data for 5 countries) are mostly using internet for telephoning or video calls; instant messaging, i.e. exchanging messages, for example, via Skype, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber; participating in social networks (creating user profile, posting messages or other contributions to facebook, twitter, etc.) as a percentage of individuals who used internet in the last 3 months and are at the top of ranking of European countries. Kosovo* is at the top followed by Montenegro and North Macedonia. They also use a high percentage of the internet for reading online news sites/newspapers/news magazines; listening music; playing or downloading games as a percentage of individuals who used the internet in the last 3 months and Kosovo* is the highest percentage.

Using the internet for finding information about goods and services as a percentage of the internet users is highest in Kosovo* and Serbia correlated with the percentage of e-shoppers. Percentage of individuals who used the internet in the last 3 months for seeking health information is highest in Serbia, followed by Kosovo*, but for sending/receiving e-mails in Kosovo* the lowest percentage of internet users is doing this activity on the internet. When it comes to activities connected to e-commerce like: selling goods and services and internet banking, the percentage of individuals who used the internet in the last 3 months for these activities is very low in all observed CEFTA countries. It seems there is inverse correlation and the countries with lowest percentage of internet use for social networking have highest percentage of internet use for selling goods and internet banking, Bosnia and Herzegovina in selling goods and services and Serbia in internet banking.
